does it make me basic that i love a new year? i totally recognize that it is an arbitrarily picked moment totally dependent on randomly agreed upon calendar of suspicious provenance. and... it's not even like it's simultaneous. i have a friend currently working in india, and it somehow felt wrong to see her celebratory new year's posts in my morning instagram scroll. but i digress! in short, i love the idea of a fresh start and a reset.
with that in mind, i am returning to the road in 2019. when i finished up my 2017 tour, just shy of my 40th birthday, i knew i was wrapping up for awhile, perhaps for a long time, possibly permanently. i kept this thought to myself, though, because i knew i might change my mind, or tbh might need the money. my reasons for returning to touring in 2019 are evolving, but one of the things i am thinking about is how sometimes you have to poke the universe and see what happens. i don't know any better way to stir up the cosmic soup than to get out on the road, get in a room with real live humans, and see what happens. the two loveliest projects of my last few years (Miss You Like Hell & Welcome To Night Vale) both came because somewhere along the way someone saw me play a random show, took home my music, and remembered me when they had an opportunity to share.
so! scroll down for the first list of dates. i encourage you to get tickets early for these, as they are beautiful and intimate rooms that will get crowded fast. it also helps the promoters and i plan when we have a better idea of who is coming. for things that aren't onsale yet, do me a favor, mark your calendars and start planning your babysitters now. those shows will be here before you know it.
so here it is, 2019 universe: POKE!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
